We have a FW190 A6 based at the Johannesburg war museum. I’m keen to build one in 1/32 scale and really like Hasegawa’s models but they only make an A8. If I wanted to convert the A8 to and A6 what would the visible differences (if any) be on the outside of the aircraft and are there any cockpit differences.

This is off the top of my head as all my referances are in my room in barracks. I am certain there is a differance in the wing guns and there is also a differance in the engine cowls. Hasa also do a 1/32nd A-5 and i am certain that would be the better option. I know in 72nd scale there are conversions to turn an A-8 in to an A-5/6.

Just looked it up on Squadron mail order for the original poster and there it was. Like many of Hasegawa’s releases they keep the options open for different variants with clever seam lines for easy replacement sprue parts for different kits of the same base model.

I just received goodies from Squadron for the first time today, in about two weeks which is excellent considering the distance, it looked like it was opened at customs for inspection. [Y]
The only ones i have seen over here in the UK are an A-5 and several A-8. As you say these are probably all the same kit with different sprues for the relevant variant.
I have only ordered once from the US, and that was from sprue brothers, and that only took 2 weeks which i was well chuffed about. Hannats usually take that long and they are only up the road.
