Converting a 130mm resin female figure into a TOS Star Fleet officer.

Indeed…

No worries about starting over, I’ve stripped a figure when I wasn’t happy with the way it was coming along.

I’ve forgotten, though, if this is styrene or resin. If it’s styrene, I wouldn’t use turpentine, for fear it’d attack the plastic.

A post-script…

I went back to the beginning and was reminded that it’s resin, and putty. Turpentine is probably OK. I use SuperClean to strip paint, myself.

Rereading the thread, I’m reminded, too, what an outstanding job you’re doing of converting the figure from the original “mannequin”. Really great!

Thanks!

But back to painting square one.

I was a bit worried about the turpentine, but it seems all is well.

I rinsed her off and I’ll let her outgas for the next 4 or 5 days.

Then prime her and This time I think I’ll use my airbrush, flats like you suggested.

Hmmm:

What I have used on some of my Female figures is Thinned Artists Ink. Or Draftsmans ink. It will give the tights the Blackish tint and let the Blue be subtley seen. I thin it with alcohol almost by 90%.

That looks good. I was worried the turpentine would take the putty off.

Looking forward to round two!

My only 2 cents I’m putting in is start painting from the skin and work your way out. You can still use flats for her uniform using brushes or just mask the painted face and hands and use your airbrush. BTW I really like the real Andorian crew woman.

What a fun project to watch.

Good luck on go #2. [Y]

Sorry for not posting in a while.

Work, family stuff, and a newish hobby has been getting in the way.

Hopefully I’ll be back at her soon.

Ok Mach71 you have my attention. Whats the newish hobby you are doing?

This has been taking up a bunch of my time lately.

1979 MGB, we have had it for about 18 months.

I finally got back to this.

Primed with 2 coats of Tamiya white primer.

I’ve started brush painting. Flat red and a blue tinted very dark grey/black.

So far i’m liking her nylons, the uniform dress has a long way to go.

Hey Mach71,Totally Cool!

How is it running? Well, I hope.

The MGB is doing ok, its 43 years old though.

Luckily parts are available still.

Another coat of flat red and I started on the boots.

Looks good to me Mach71, hope second times the charm!

Thanks!

Me too.

So far I’m liking the stockings.

Interesting side note, to get the stockings color I mixed True North and Testors enamels.

This was the 1st time I’ve done this. They mixed well and covered great. The only negative is that it stayed tacky for hours. It did eventually harden.

A long overdue update. I’m still working on her, between other projects.

I had to do another partial striping on her. I’ve tried many things to get the skin

correct for a TOS Andorian with no luck, I’ve gone with the later series pure blue

color.

Her antenna are my second attempt, They are thin wire.

I’ve just started working on her face. I went with white eyebrows to match her hair.

Hey! I know this thread!

Good luck with your painting and have a nice day!

Paweł

Thanks!

Well, look who’s back! Nice work on the figure. Are you planning any equipment for her, such as a tricorder?

Gary

Thanks Gary!

To be honest I’m just trying to finish her off, it’s been way too long working on her.

Originally I was going to build a generic console with a chair for her.
