I’ve accumulated these over the years. Nothing compared to what you guys do but, I thought that I’d share them here anyway.
F-104: Chrome plated. Purchased from the (ex?) wife of an Italian Starfighter pilot at a yard/tag sale for US$10. The metal scale is 6 inches (152 mm) long.
F-15: Purchased from a guy at work for US$15. He wanted much more but didn’t really know what he had. From the old McDonnell Douglas days.
Also from the old McDonnell Douglas days, this F-18 was ‘obtained’ from a McD saleswoman that used to provide our MCAD software and who was very reluctant as she basically had to purchase this out of her own account. She mentioned that it cost her US$75 but there was no cost to me other than a few nice words. Must’ve been pretty good as a few weeks after, I recieved this in the mail.
I used to have one of those F/A-18 models, although it was maybe a bit older than yours… it had hi-vis markings instead of the low vis stuff. l also had some others, including a Bell X-1A, sans mount. They’re simple models, but for the purpose these things serve, they don’t need to be more than that.
Also used to have an original Curtiss P-40 desk model attached to an ashtray. Actually, it was my Dad’s. My Grandfather worked at Curtiss here in Buffalo and when he passed away my Grandmother gave my Dad a few Curtiss things, including this model. Unfortunately, after my Dad passed away, I couldn’t find it anywhere. I have no clue what happened to the damn thing… it seems to have just disappeared… grrrrrrrrrrrr…
