Confused about the "tag" notes (to FSM moderators)

There is a thread in armor where they are/were doing a survey. In the subject of the thread is said [POLL]. I could not figure out how to participate in the poll.

Now there are several I’ve seen that say [Sticky] in them. What does this mean, and how does it affect me?

Thanks;

Bill

wipw I’m not a moderator but I can answer your questions.

If it has “poll” on it there will be a poll question with a list of answers below it with radio buttons in front of them. When you click your mouse in a button it records your vote and then will display the results to you.

If it says “sticky” then that post will always stay at the top of the list and will not become buried pages down by newer posts and replys. This is done for informational type posts or posts of great interest so they are alway easy to find (at the top).

I’m sure the moderators can add some to this but that should cover the basics.

Eric

Eric,

I apprecieate the come-back. I thought it was something like that.

But, I went back and checked on the “My favorite armor scale” pole, and it WILL NOT let me vote. I get no radio buttons on my screen! I’m sooooo sad! Okay, I’m not that broken up, but I’d like to be able to take the poles!

Thanks, again

Bill

What Eric said is pretty much right on target – thanks Eric.

About the poll…
If you look at the results before you take the poll, you’re not allowed to participate in the poll, which is why the buttons are gone. I know it’s dumb – but that’s they way it was programmed. In the next version of the forums, I’ve removed that section of code. [:)]

Thanks, David

I hadn’t intended to view the poll. When I first clicked on the thread, the result graph came up in the first “window”. Then I couldn’t do anything but read everyones comments.

I apprecieate your reply.

Thanks again,

Bill

That’s odd if the result graph appeared first. You should only get that after you either a) vote or b) click on the button to see poll results.

Maybe I clicked the view button and wasn’t aware of what I was doing (wouldn’t be the first time). I don’t remember doing that, but it’s been a while.
