I’m looking for a cheap compressor that I can use with my Crescendo 175 airbrush, that is reasonably quiet, has adjustable pressure, a header tank, and did I mention cheap? [;)]
The key thing is IT MUST BE AVAILABLE TO BUY IN THE UK! [:D]

Mike, try this link:

I run a Werther 3, bought from the above supplier.
Alternatively try here:

Best of luck.

Thanks Karl, Do you have a little more into on the Werther 3, as it’s a great price, but the website’s a bit poor on detail. Does it have a reservoir? How do you rate the noise? What accessories do you use (flow regulator/moisture trap)?
Any info you can provide would be most welcome [:)]
Mike, the 3 has a 0.8 litre built in tank. Not huge but more than enough to prevent pulsing.
Noise wise, my other half reckons it’s as noisy as the hoover, no more, no less.
As regards accessories, the only ones I’ve bought, are an adaptor for the hose connection, to take it down to a size suitable for a Badger air line, and a combined moisture trap, regulator & pressure gauge. I bought the latter online from Hobbylinc.com in the US. Even with shipping it came to less than £30.
As for the price, don’t forget to add VAT, but even so they are still a good price.
I don’t much about the Ripmax compressors, but their are a few UK forum members who swear by them, especially as they come with a large tank and regulator.
Hope this helps.
Karl
Thanks again Karl… you’ve made an old man very happy [;)]
Hi Mike,
Before making a final decision, you might want to check in with Robin Carpenter at Cammett Ltd. He handles a wide range of airbrushes and compressors, and is a super person to deal with. He can provide good professional guidance. You can e-mail him at:

Thanks John - there’s an email on its way to him now [;)]
Have you tried www.machinemart.co.uk they have some quiet models.
Scott
Thanks Scott - have a branch conveniently situated 2 miles down the road, so I could go have a listen if I want.
Mike,
Id definately recommend the ripmax compressor, ive got the T-RCP104. I chose this because there is nothing in the UK that runs quietly (fridge motor volume), has an airtank, moisture trap and regulator for under £200.
Machinemart compressors are good but loud or expensive, my dad bought the Bronco model a few years back at at 80dB+ its too loud to use in a house.
If you want anymore info just ask
Regards
John

What do we think of this one?
Mike,
looks ok but I’d email them and find out how much noise it makes, being an industrial style compressor it might not be very quiet. Good price though.
John
I think we’re looking at 80db, which like you say is LOUD… It’d be in the garage, but I suppose the racket would become a bit tiresome after a while. I’ll have a gander at Ripmax’s site again. Thanks.

They have some real quiet compressors that have the fridge motors so you can hardly hear them when they`re on. Prices are a little high, but you get what you pay for.
