Hello all,
I have an Iwata Eclipse airbrush and I am needing to get a compressor. The one that I was using is no longer available for my use.
I am looking for something that is less than $200.
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
Steve

Welcome to FSM Steve.
I won’t suggest a particular make or model of compressor, what I suggest is that you don’t limit yourself to shopping in the hobby and craft stores. Be sure to check out the selection available at your local hardware stores. You will find that you can sometimes find a small industrial compressor with tank and regulator for far less than a hobby compressor. One other thing … spend the extra couple of dollars and get a moisture trap.
Hope this helps a bit.
I got this one from Sears: http://www.sears.com/sr/product/summary/productsummary.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1540901007.1062527065@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdgadcjfhlhhhecehgcemgdffmdfko.0&vertical=TOOL&fromAuto=YES&bidsite=&pid=00915210000
I’ve only used it for a short while but have had no problems with it. It’s loud of course but I can use it for other small things around the house as well.
Storage tank, moisture trap and pressure regulator with gauge.
Steve,
Here is a nice complete setup with regulator, moisture trap, foot switch and airbrush stand for $199:

Thank you all.

Steve,
Here’s a compressor that you may be interested
in looking at from Micro Mark. It’s a 2hp compressor with tank and regulator.
Doesn’t have a oil filter/moisture trap.I’d recommend a larger
one than they sell. They can be found at Lowe’s , Home Depot
and elsewhere for the same amount or less.
It’s on sale till September 16th ,www.micromark.com
item# 82563 2hp air compressor $134.95 +frieght. Might
try the stores above too.

This compressor from Harbor Freight Tools is the same unit as that one from Micro Mark and a little cheaper.

I have not heard very good reviews of them by people using them for long periods of time each day, but they may work alright for modelling.

Please try www.bearair.com. I find that no one beats their prices.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I ended up buying a Husky compressor from Home Depot for $99. It is pretty quiet, has a regulator and tank. The only thing that it did not come with was a moisture trap so I need to order that seperately. Overall I am very happy with it.
Thanks again.
