Completed SBD-3 Dauntless

G’day everyone:

Here’s some pics of my Accurate miniatures SBD-3 for the Battle of Midway GB. Built pretty much out of the box, I enjoyed this build. It’s a very nice kit. Paints are Gunze and Tamiya. Weathering with Pastels and the decals are modified kit ones to represent a Midway period SBD.

I hope you like it, and thanks for having a look.

Very nice job. Love the Dauntless.

It looks great… what scale is?..

Nice work on the Dauntlees. Looks great.

Regards, Rick

You, my friend, have much to be proud of with this SBD.
Despite the early hype, the AcMin Dauntless is not a “shake and bake” model. It requires more than minimal skills, though it is without a doubt a fine kit, and is, IMHO, a little bit overpriced as are all of AM’s kits these days.
I can’t wait until I have time to do another AcMin SBD, and perhaps another after that. My last one was a “yellow-wings” Marine -1. And speaking of “Yellow-Wings,” on my next Dauntless I will use their fantastic decals. Their whole range of products is for aircraft of the “Yellow Wings Navy.”

Hey Daniel,

That’s a beauty! You were an excellent modeler when I first began to visit these forums maybe a year ago, and you seem to keep getting better. Keep up the good work, my friend.

Mark

Stunning realism, Daniel, thank you for sharing your build!! [:)]

Take care,
Frank

Great looking bird, Ping. I love the washed-out look of heavily used Navy planes! Thanks for sharing.

Very nice looking buid.

Looks great, pingtang !
I like the slightly lighter color on the fabric control surfaces.
The dive brakes in my -5 were warped. How were yours?

Well done !

Looks great! I really loved their SBD-1. I’ve had nothing but luck myself with my accurate minis builds. Love 'em!

Looks great

A very fine looking build, Good job Dan

STUNNING

Not in the least overpriced if you compare them to AmTech, or a later release like Tamiya does by throwing in a chunk of resin to make it weigh more and pricing it near $100.

And since Hobby Lobby carries them all ya gotta do is wait until they run their seasonal 40 or 50% off specials like I do.

An outstanding build, Congratulations…

Steve

Great work Daniel. I also was going to mention that I really liked the slightly different colored fabric.
Leon

Great looking dauntless…May I ask how you weathered the panel lines?
They came out looking brilliant!

Also in reply to someone earlier…Accurate Min…only makes 1/48 models.

Thanks for sharing…
