Here’s some pics of my Accurate miniatures SBD-3 for the Battle of Midway GB. Built pretty much out of the box, I enjoyed this build. It’s a very nice kit. Paints are Gunze and Tamiya. Weathering with Pastels and the decals are modified kit ones to represent a Midway period SBD.
You, my friend, have much to be proud of with this SBD.
Despite the early hype, the AcMin Dauntless is not a “shake and bake” model. It requires more than minimal skills, though it is without a doubt a fine kit, and is, IMHO, a little bit overpriced as are all of AM’s kits these days.
I can’t wait until I have time to do another AcMin SBD, and perhaps another after that. My last one was a “yellow-wings” Marine -1. And speaking of “Yellow-Wings,” on my next Dauntless I will use their fantastic decals. Their whole range of products is for aircraft of the “Yellow Wings Navy.”
That’s a beauty! You were an excellent modeler when I first began to visit these forums maybe a year ago, and you seem to keep getting better. Keep up the good work, my friend.
Not in the least overpriced if you compare them to AmTech, or a later release like Tamiya does by throwing in a chunk of resin to make it weigh more and pricing it near $100.
And since Hobby Lobby carries them all ya gotta do is wait until they run their seasonal 40 or 50% off specials like I do.
