Completed Monster Busts

I finished these busts for a contest here in Eastern NC at the beginning of this month.

They began their life as Halloween Decorations from Michael’s and Big Lots. I stripped the paint using Westley’s Bleche White.

Cleaned up the seams and filled holes.

The rest was basic painting techniques.

Enjoy.

Hey, these look great, Brian! I like the spooky little girl vampire the best. She’ll give me nightmares!

How did you fare at the show?

Steve

Steve,

I got a plaque for 3rd place in the collection division. Collection is determined as 5 or more related subjects. This collection also included a hand carved plaque that gave the title of the collection as “Monsters Alive”

Aww, shes a chubby little vampire. someone had to much cake. hehehe.

There really good, I likem. The frankie looks funny, sort of a characture of him.

The eyes are excellent. Do you have a picture of the display as a whole?

Be careful about paint demarcation. There are several places where one color runs over the adjacent color. They could also benefit from punching the highlights and shadows. The adult female vampire has some nice shadows in the red of her dress, however.

I kinda like the wolf dude… Great job![tup]

Aj,

Thanks for the guidance. I understand what you are saying about the paint demarcation. For instance on the vampire man the red bleeds into his chest just under the bat necklace…

Thanks again for the advice.
