Here are a few pictures of my recently completed Monogram A-26B. I’m pretty happy with the results, the kit was a bear with a good bit of puttying and gap filling.

Very nice indeed. What did you use for the NMF on this?

Hope you don’t mind, but I took the liberty of brightening the lighting (and enlarging a couple) of your pics in order to see them a bit easier…

If you want, keep 'em, and also, I’ll take them down if you keep 'em and then want them removed…

Nice job on my favorite aircraft!! Is that the Promodeler kit or the Monogram “oldie” ?

The kit is the latest reissue, it is actually boxed as a Revell, so I guess I shouldn’t have called it a Monogram.

The 1/48 C-model (“glass-nose”) was the original, 1993 (I think) Monogram/Revell kit… The ProModeler A-26B and Revell A-26B came later…

This kit has 1993 inscribed on the horizontal stabilizer. You have to cut off the interior pieces for the glass nose portion. I think all Revell did was add a new solid nose piece and add a sprue with better wheels/tires and a new clear parts sprue and call it finished. I don’t know when the A-26B was issued, but it’s clear many of the parts are from the original C model.

The finish looks really good. I’m another that would like to know what you used for the metallic finish?

I finished the airplane with Allclad airframe aluminum, aluminum, and polished aluminum over Allclad black. I applied the black over Allclad’s grey primer.

The Allclad black is actually an enamel, it goes on pretty smooth but it’s nothing special.

I would highly recommend the Allclad grey primer, it dries super quick and can be sanded in about 30 min.

Thanks for the explanaton. I keep hearing from several members that the Alclad comes off when handling the model. Has that hapenned to you?

I have noticed this problem with the high shine allclad lacquers. The normal or lower shine ones don’t rub off at all, but the high shine ones will rub off or pull off if you try to mask over them.
