This was a kit I first built when I was about ten, so now when I’ve decided to do this model building stuff “for real” I wanted to revisit the kit and try to make justice to it. It’s my first kit in about 15 years and the first time I’ve used an airbrush and my first attempt at weathering. I had a lot of fun making it and I think it came out well.
This model came out a long while ago and it shows a bit in the details, it’s quite simplified in some places. It was painted using Vallejo Model Air and weathered using Tamiya’s Weathering Master and MIG Pigments. The mud was made using MIG Pigments, acrylic resin and plaster. I purposely didn’t do any metal showing on the tracks as the diorama shows it coming across a muddy ruin. The markings represent the XXVIII SS Freiwilligen Panzer Grenadier Division Berlin 1945 and I tried to imagine what a tank which had been involved in heavy street fighting would look like, hence it’s quite weathered.
