Well, the main diorama is done, minus the 2 figures. It will take me a while, since painting them is not my strong suit.
I looked at so many desert pictures, I hope I came close to recreating it and do the M1A1 justice. [8)]
You did an awsome job, I espically like the second picture down. [:D] I wish My first M1 could have turned out like that. [B)] It looks like a todler built it. I was gonna rebuild one sometime. probably after I finish my current Diorama. keep up the good work

Good job Erock!! The tank and the base look very good. I’d say you did well on replicating a desert scene, I’ve seen the desert first hand and that could be in middle/southern Iraq. Take out the plants and the rocks leave a small scraggly amount of the ground greenery and it’ll look like the very south of Iraq and Kuwait! [:D] (basically sand and more sand!! [:D] )

Solid work Erock! I like that the base is simple yet effective. It compliments your M1. I hope that my M1 looks half as good as yours.

Very crisp and clean build and finish. I like it.
My only critique would be the stowage on the sides is a little shiny for fabric. (that could be a photo problem) I like the job you did on the tracks too. Time well spent on those.
The base is exceptional. It compliments, not detracts or competes with the model. Puts it in a nice setting. The photography is also very well done. No bad hot spots and really shows off the detail. You should feel very proud of your project.
Very well done…(insert golf clap here). Makes me want to go out and build some modern armor.
Out of curiosity, what was your total build time to date (not counting the figs you plan on adding)?

Total build time wasn’t too long. I would say about 2 1/2 weeks. I work second shift so, most of the building was done when I got home, which is around 11:30 pm. I actually started this awhile back but had to stop while waiting on the Eduard etched parts to get to me.

Wow ! Your model looks great, and the diorama base is pretty cool too. I just started modeling armor in 1/72, I’m about to finish my very first MBT, an Airfix Chieftain.
I’d like to continue with the modern stuff, so I’ve got a Revell Challenger up next but I’d certainly like to do an M1A1. Any suggestions re: Abrams kit in 1/72 ? (I’ve also got the Challenger in 1/35, but I’m kind of scared to build it just now with so little experience and knowledge). Also looking for an S-tank kit in 1/72…

I’M just starting the build on the Abrams tank, and found some motivation in finishing it after seeing your work.GREAT WORK!!! Now if only the Eduards details would get here I can get underway.Like the looks of the more modern tracks T-158 on the tank vs. 156 style.[:o)]
