Crisp, solid build so far, Toshi! Cant help but notice the steady improvement in your skills.
Oh and hey, I noticed that Detail and Scale post of yours. Thank you for sharing that. Last time I came across D&S it was still in book form. I remember saving up my school allowances for a long time to buy just 1 copy…
Thanks Allan, and thank you for your support!

OUTSTANDING JOB so far sir. I think you were a model builder in your past life, you are way too good for not doing this for long. Enjoy
Thank you Hunter. Thank you for the cmliments as well as the read and replies.

To my fellow forum members,
This is my very first build of a Airacobra and I’m enjoying every minute of it. I love the concept of the P-39 with a mid engine mount followed by a cannon in the nose. Below is just a dry fitting. As my dad used to say; “Measure twice, cut once”.
I’m so impressed with the Kitty Hawk brand in that Mrs. Toshi ordered a Bronco of the Kitty Hawk brand. Mrs. Toshi likes the unique look of the Bronco, I should have the Bronco delivered no later than next week Wednesday. I look forward to that build. Until then here is where I’m at with the P-39 Airacobra. Thank you forum members for your support in my projects.

Looking good Toshi. I wish I had time for my Kingfisher by KH right now, but I’ve shelved all my kits till I get my real truck upgrades done.
These are truly well made kits.
BK
I completely agree with your statement in that the Kitty Hawk model kits are well made kits!

Toshi, I noticed your mention of Detail & Scale books. You can find them for free at Boxartden.com. Nice work on the P-39. One mention though, on the interior color after examining the remains of several P-39’s at the Pioneer Park air museum in Fairbanks, the interior is a very dark green like Bronze green which I think was known as Bell green.
Another nice looking build Toshi. I do like those HGW belts myself, use a set myself on a 109 build last year.
Looking foward to more.
Very nice Toshi. I’e never heard of Kitty Hawk but must say I’m impressed.
Thank you sir for the heads up.
Toshi
Thanks Bish! This was my first experience with HGW belts, I think it’s a really cool idea and I would definately recommend it to fellow modelers.

Thank you lawdog114. I too have never heard of Kitty Hawk models until just recently on my Kingfisher thread. I highly recommend Kitty Hawk and especially their P-39 kit. Mrs. Toshi likes Kitty Hawk so much in that she even purchased for me a Bronco Kitty Hawk kit of which should arrive at the start of next week.
Toshi
Stunning work! Any idea what the price is on this and Revell’s kits?
Thank you so much midnightprowler. The cost of the Kitty Hawk Airacobra was $69.99 including shipping and handling. The Revell of Germany Airacobra is roughly half the price of the Kitty Hawk kit. Mrs. Toshi purchased the P-39 via EBay.
Toshi
How does the Revell kit compare?
I can’t give you a answer to this question as I have never built the Revell of Germany Airacobra. I can tell you that the Kitty Hawk P-39 is a extremely well detailed kit.
Toshi
Toshi,
This looks like a beauty of a kit! The P-39 could have been a real winner of an aircraft if certain changes had been made as planned. As it was it did prove to be an excellent ground attack aircraft with the USSR. Like another ill fated aircraft in US service (the Brewster Buffalo) it finally found success with a foreign power.
Thanks roger_wilco. Thank you for the background information in regards to this P-39 build.
