Completed Kitty Hawk 1:32 P-39 Q/N Airacobra

To my fellow forum members,

Here is the next project on my list. It seems to be a very complex kit. Something I really enjoy doing. I have also purchased some AM PE and Masks. Please view my WIP as I forge ahead. Thank you for your support and read and replies. Any comments are more than anticipated!

Alright!, keep them coming…I will love to watch this build. I hope you enjoy and post as many pictures as possible. I’ll be checking in daily.

Toshi, that 'Cobra looks to be a far superior kit to the Revell 32-scale kit that I am currently working on. I started mine last September along with three 48-scale Airacobras, but I expect you will finish your’s before I complete any of mine.

One thing I will warn you about regarding the Airacobra is that all of the kits I have ever seen of this are notorious tail sitters. They require a lot of nose weighting to keep them on the tricycle gear. Which then leads to the problem. With all the armament detail up front, where do you out weight sufficient to keeping it from sitting on its tail? The Revell kit not feature any armament detail in the nose so this was not a problem, but this Kittyhawk kit appears to feature all of that detail, which just begs to be displayed.

Looking forward to seeing your completed 'Cobra.

Well Toshi, you are about to find out just how nice these KH kits are. I’m watching.

I sure will and thank you so much in following my builds. I definately more than anything else is to share my builds with you and FSM forum members. Thank you for the read and reply!

Toshi

Yes sir, your observation is accurate. It will definately be a tail sitter due to the fact that the detailed engine and cockpit will be in the way of some type of weight.

My plan is to utilize a clear piece of stretched spruce and attach it to the very end of the Airacobra. It’s hardly noticeable as I’ve done this already with my Trumpeter 1:32 Me 626. Thank you for the heads up as well as the read and reply!

Toshi

i definately will enjoy building this kit ASAP! Thanks for the visit.

Here is the first update for the Airacobra.

This kit has a nicely detailed engine.

This PE seatbelt is made out of microtextile. Basically it’s made of material to give it a real look.

Watching this one. I didn’t know Revell had a 1/32 one. I knew about their 1/48 one.

That manual what I can see , looks very nice and detailed Rick

Toshi .I have the 1 32 revell cobra. And I intend to use one of the trumpeter p 38 engines for that kit …you see I keep those engines like bf-109 …p 38. …mustang. .corsair …hellcat …wildcat …bearcat. …Warhawk …kettyhawk …262 engines. I use them as masters for casting in resin …just to add more detail to those revell and monogram and others to name few .

I’ll be watching this one toshi [proplr]

If my memory serves me right, the Revell Airacobra 1:32 kit is a Revell of Germany product.

Toshi

Yes, the manual is well planned out.

Toshi

I hope you do a WIP on your build. It seems like you have everything planned out.

Toshi

Here is what was done this evening.

Looking FANTASTIC Toshi!

The Revell 32-scale Airacobra is indeed a Revell of Germany release, but that mold originated with Special Hobby.

Looking really good Toshi! That looks like a really nice kit.

Nice looking engine. .I’d love to have them exhaust stacks on my mustang lll that I’m doing for the mustang GB [:P]

Looks very good Toshi. Odd seeing the engine behind the pilot but that’s the P-39! [:P]

I haven’t tried those new 1/32nd fabric seatbelts but been tempted and they look really good there.
