Completed: Dornier Do217E-5

Here is the Do 217E-5 I built for the BomberGruppe GB. Standard Luftwaffe splinter scheme with a fair amount of weathering, mostly evident on the underside but also present on the upper surfaces.

The kit I built:

Top side:

Port side:

Front:

Underside:

Rear Wheel:

Main Gear Detailing and weathering:

And the cool guided missile whose name I cannot recall at this moment:

I wanna say Hs 293 for the missle. Don’t know if there was a name with that. The bomber looks great.

This one turned out very well. Looks cool.

That missile is indeed the Hs 293.

I have this kit, too, but I haven’t started it, as my display case is jammed with splinter camo planes, and I wanna research what other camo schemes these 217’s had.

Good luck on researching other camo schemes for the 217. I didn’t find much out there on the 217, and found no color photos anywhere. Most of the books I looked through that featured the 217 were of a different variant.

And yes, now I do recall that the missile was the Henschel Hs 293. Thanks for everyone’s comments!

Excellent job, looks great.

Looks pretty good Aggieman.

Regards, Rick

Another nice one!

Did you add the brake lines on the gear? The gear and wheels look nice. As does the paint job- nice splinter scheme.

Cool missle too!

Jon,

Yes, I added the brake lines. I’ve made that a standard operating procedure when building aircraft these days.
