Completed Academy 1/48 Putt Putt Maru P-38 Lightning w/Eduard Brassin AM

This is will be an interesting build as I’ve never done a complete AM PE/Resin kit for a Academy P-38 Lightning. Instead of going into a story, I’ll let the photos speak a thousand words!

Toshi

As you can see, the AM resin set is much more detailed.

[:D[I am definitely watching

Looking forward to this build

Whoa!!! Pullin’ out all the stops on this one eh Toshi? Gotta let tha big dog eat! Will be watching this one for sure!!

I figured that the only way to get a good fit is to assemble the OOB parts and then assemble the resin pieces part by part and compare the two.

Toshi

Thank you for following. I’ll do my best.

Toshi

Nice to have you follow along. By the way, your Avenger canopy is coming along nicely.

Toshi

LOL! I’m a kitten! Purr. LOL! I’ll do my best! Thanks for following along.

Toshi

Now to cut and sand the seat to spec.

Toshi

I’ll be watching this Toshi. The P-38 is one of my favorite fighters.

LOL! Looks like you’re doin fine so far.

Hi Toshi,

I’ll be watching with all the rest of the crowd. Eager to see the quality of this kit - so please let us know if you run into any “issues” with the build. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Academy kit built up before. Looks good so far.

Chris

I am excited for you with this one, Toshi! All the bells and whistles! WOW!!

I like the way you’ve decided to build the kit parts with the resin replacements. That is a novel idea my friend!

I’m going to enjoy watching this one very much!

After reading about the heroics of the Lightning and it’s pilots, it is one of my favorites as well. I also have a Trumpeter 1/32 Lightning in the stash. That should be fun! Thanks for following!

Toshi

Thank’s Muustang1989!

Toshi

Thank’s for following Bossman. I’ll definately let you know as well as all forum members know if I come across any issues. I was shocked when I saw that there was a complete AM kit for the Academy Lightning. I’ll do my best.

Toshi

I’m excited as well, at first a bit hesitant but as I started the kit it started to make sense. I figured to build the kit parts as a template so that the fit and finish of the resin cockpit would be or try to be spot on. I know how much trimming resin kits can cause as an issue. Not fun at all! LOL! Thanks for following!

Toshi

OH Boy !

I am anxious to see your take on this very same kit I have in the stash.

Intreging that you have the AM set as well and it;s very interesting how you are showing the kit parts vs the Edward parts in comparison. I may have to purchase the AM set as well. TY very much for posting.
