This is the Academy offering of the B-47E in 1/144th scale,
mostly built out of the box. I highly recommend the kit for
ease-of-build and detail. Pilot figures not included in kit.
Painted with a various acylic and enamel paints

Nice job. I built that same kit earlier this year by finishing it in foil. I also built a stand but mine stinks compared to your’s.
Mate,
I don’t often comment on other people’s builds, but man, that’s fantastic.
The in-flight configuration, with crew, slightly nose up, slightly banked, works extremely well as a display…excellent, mate…the simple base is complimented by the simple markings.
Man, that’s a lovely display piece - you should be very happy with that.
I know I would be.
Thanks for sharing the pics!
Beautiful job on one of the most graceful aircraft ever to fly! Thanks for sharing! [tup]
Nice one [tup]. The simple, but effective, base really sets it off. Thanks for sharing.
Regards, Rick
Excelleny job on both the stand and the plane. It’s a neat, important bomber/recon craft of the Cold War.
Very much [#ditto] the above. I recently bought this kit (one of my favorite aircraft) so I’m glad to hear and see good things about it.
Where did you get the pilot figures? Scratchbuilt?
Thanks for the good words, Gents.
It’s a gift for my grandfather. I eagerly await his appraisal ![]()
The stand is made from a cheapo wood plaque from Michaels,
stained with MiniWax water-based Rosewood, and then coated
with acrylic matte clear.
The pilot figures came from a 144th Heller E2-C kit.
From build to pose… beautiful.
I’ve always loved the lines of that aircraft. You’ve captured it great!
And they call 1/72 Braille scale … nice work, and that stand really makes it a standout piece.
Very nice looking build!
Very nice work on the model and the display. I have always loved the B-47 and you certainly did it justice.

Well, my Grandpa called this evening with his compliments.
It’s wonderful to give him a model of an aircraft that he flew.
He said that after all the time I spend on it, he’s glad to know
that I probably know the lines and details of the plane as well
as he does! I think that’s a bit of a stretch, but I’m glad that
he has someone in the family that he can relay his experiences
to that he knows will understand/appreciate them. Most in my
family wouldn’t know a B-47 from a C-47 [swg]
Seems like alot of people here like the wood stand. It was really
quite simple to make, so anyone can contact me or just reply if
they want a detailed run-down on how it was done.
The 144th scale B-47 is a fairly good sized model. You should see 1/72
scale being built in the SAC GB. The 144th is about the same size as a
1:48 Mustang. The wood base is ~6" in diameter.
Regards All.
