Well I’m trying to clear out the stash one by one, and getting a few builds under my belt in the process. I think this is the 6th completion since June?
Anyway, here’s my Hasegawa 1/48 P-47 Razorback built completely OOB. This was my first Hasegawa kit, and I my only complaint really was the clear pieces for the formation lights haha. So small! But I got em in there
I wasn’t building this for competition, just another bird for the shelf - so I chose to leave off the Chief nose art Wasn’t a big fan of it.
Unfortunately the cap for my pin vise is cross-threaded so I was unable to drill out the MG barrels, but once I get a new one I’ll be able to go back and correct that. Other than that she’s finished!
I like what you did with the it. Your weathering of that mono tone drab is excellent very realistic looking. Infact the paint chipping and staining is just as well done. The control surfaces are also very well done. I haven’t seen a Tbolt this nice in quite a while.
I agree with Stan, beautiful job on a difficult camo scheme to do well. I like the effects you used, and appreciated the WIP thread immensely. Can’t wait to see what comes off of your bench next. Any idea what it might be?
Jason, you really did that kit justice! I know what you mean about the Indian head… funny how both Tamiya and Hasegawa chose the same plane to feature. I bought some aftermarket decals on the cheap to dress mine up in! The finish on the P-47 is absolutely flawless. I wish I had the same luck as you. I’m glad to see you’re still cranking them out!
Beautifull job on weathing that OD finish! I would not worry to much about not drilling out the machine guns. The are noy very accurate in shape anyway. I built the same bird about two years ago. She went together great from what I remember. I screwed up the canopy masking and then scratched it. Never got around to trying to get a replacement one.
It took a little practice to get the hang of using the pencil, but I think I’m almost happy with the results. Looking back at previous kits where I used it, it’s quite unconvincing. But less is more!
