COMPLETED: 1/32 Revell glider ASK-21

Completed: 1/32 Revell ASK-21 (kit #04224)

I’m a student glider pilot, and I built this model as a Christmas gift for one of my instructors. It portrays an aircraft that he instructs in for the Civil Air Patrol. The kit is well thought-out and builds nicely. Hopefully Revell will make another production run sometime. Other than a few other odds and ends in the cockpit, etc. it’s pretty much an out-of-the-box build. Tamiya acrylic paints, Testors semi-gloss. The all white paint job taught me all sorts of new “clean room” techniques. It was very hard to get FOD free coverage.

This last picture shows the ASK-21 with the other glider model I built in parallel: a Duo Discus for my other instructor.

See THIS LINK for pictures and info on the Duo Discus.

Very nice, I’ve got the LS- 8 and the Discus in my stash. I want to pick up the ASK too. I want to build a gaggle in a thermal hanging from the ceiling. I initially flew sailplanes with CAP in the early 70’s.

Best,Marty

Nice to see a glider here, and it is a nice one. Well done.

Thanks guys! They are fun kits.

You are so right about the FOD, and it’s a big bird too.

That’s a fine model.
