Coming to a Post Near You in the Future

I just received this kit for a review today. Its the 1/24 Trumpeter A6M2-N “Rufe” floatplane. After I’m done and have the review submitted, I’ll share the pics with you. This is one MONSTER of a kit ! [:O] The molding looks beautiful, and the detail is incredible. I took the pic of the 1/24 fuselage half next to a 1/48 Hasegawa A6M2, to give you an idea of the SIZE of this model. I can’t wait to get started !

pix hi,
so, can you talk us exactly how you managed to run your next door neighbour out of of town and use his place to build and store this thing in?![:0][:0][:0]

Wow Pix, that looks plenty big, that does![8D] Get out the coffee and vitamin pills, this will be a long build!

Cant wait, looks like a very good subect.

Wow, that Rufe is huge. To bad i dont do the bigger scales, cause i would need a hanger to house that monster.[:D][:D][:D]

Looks like you are going to have some fun.

Wow, that’s huge. Can’t wait to see the finished result…WOW that’s huge!

Cool deal, Pix!
Looking forward to your review!

Thanks, all !

I won’t be able to post any in-progress pics of this bird until I’m done with the kit, and have submitted the review to IPMS. Since the kit didn’t cost me anything, I want to take care of my obligation to them first. I am so impressed by the size, detail, & quality of the moldings that I’m hoping someone else may want to look into these kits. If I had more room to display them, I’d buy them ALL ! Now, if they’d just make a 1/24 Me 262…

its cool huh…[:-,] Im into the 1/32 myself…It is awsome.[;)] Cant wait to see it!

I can’t wait to see it. At that scale you should be able to detail until your heart’s content. I can certainly understand your IPMS obligation, it will be like christmas when you finally unveil it.

Pix, I looked at the kit at my LHS today and it is a fantastic looking kit. I’m disciplined enough not to have bought it, but I really had to struggle with my inner child who was screaming BUY IT. Looking forward to seeing the finished model when your IPMS obligation is complete. Will your review be in the National IPMS Journal or is this for a local/regional affiliate?

I saw that kit at the Richmond IPMS show. A beautiful kit…

Regards, Dan

I’m going to build this one as an “On-Line Review.” You can see it at their website :

http://www.ipmsusa.org/index.htm

Jimz66 - the fuselage is 440mm, wingspan 499.5mm (sorry-I don’t have a conversion for inches), and there are 181 plastic parts, plus photo negative instruments, PE hinges & metal shafts for the control surfaces.

rjkplasticmod - If its within your budget, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed by it.

I’ve read a lot of reviews where the builder scratchbuilt this, and corrected that, and added lots of stuff not in the box. I’d rather build it as it is, but I will add belts (there’s none in the kit). I’ll scan a pair in 1/48, enlarge them 200%, and use them for templates, using lead foil, copper wire, & micro solder. I may also wire the engine. This kit really has me excited !
