I’m converting a truck I’m building from a covered up bed to a partially uncovered one. I’ve cut and heated wastebound sprue and shaped it into the rungs (is that what they’re called?)
Anyways, I’ve been planing for months to try colouring tissue paper to use as stowage, tarps, etc, and this is a perfect opportunity, as I have no other choice [:D]
Anywhoo, I was just wondering how to go about colouring it. What colour would be good for this. Also, since I use almost exclysively acrylics, should I just paint the thing with normal paint, or thin it out. I’m afraid if I thin it out too much, once it dries it will be a faded colour.
Anyways, any advice from people who’ve actually done this would be great!

This is an easy one.
Thin white glue, suchas Elmer’s Brand School glue with water at a 1:1 ratio. This doesn’t have to be exact. Moisten your “rungs” with this to give them some bite. Lay your tissue over this, gently pulling to the tension you want. Carefully apply the thinned glue mixture over the tissue with a wide, soft brush. Left this dry. If you want it stiffer, apply one or more coats of glue mixture, remembering the more glue, the less texture. When you’re happy with the stiffness, make sure the glue is dry and paint and weather as you would plastic. No need to pre-color.
