color for M2A2 in Iraq

I am building Dragon’s 1:72 M2A2 kit with ERA. The paint scheme callout for the 2003-2004 Iraq campaign says RLM Sandy Brown 79.

This is way too dark brown for my taste and is even described as “wood brown” in some websites.

I see that FSM Matt Usher did this model and used MM acrylic gulf sand while the 1706 callout is for enamel sand.

Just wonder if anyone has an opinion and is there a Tamiya acrylic choice? Thanks [:^)]

Gunze: Aqueous Hobby Color: Yellow FS 33531,H-313 (discontinued) / Mr Color: Yellow FS 33531, 313
Vallejo Model Air: Sand 7107

There’s no direct match in Tamiya Acrylic.

I second the Testors Model Master Sand, FS 33531. I find it the closest to modern CARC Tan.

And these Bradleys had CARC paint?

Yes, pretty much all US Army & Marines ground equipment went to CARC paints in the 2nd half of the 80s.
