Col. Francis Gabreski P-47D

Hello,

I am wanting to do a 1/48 P-47D Thunderbolt plane of Col, Francis Gabreski and see that Academy has a kit of Gabreski’s P-47D but I would rather do the P-47D Thunderbolt Bubbletop from Tamyia. My question is I am looking for the decals of Gabreski’s plane for the Tamiya kit and have found some on ebay but I am not sure of the maker, they are Techmod Decals. Has anyone ever heard or used any decals from this company and are they any good? Thank you in advance,

George

I used a set of their decals several years ago and they performed just fine, although they may have been a little thick. Of course that could be attributed to faulty memory, but I do remember the kit-still have it and it looks good.

I’ve used them in 1/72. They seem to react pretty much like SuperScale. They responded well to both SuperSet and SuperSol with no problems.

Aeromaster makes an extensive line of sheets dedicated to the Wolf Pack, from the Razorback through the -M.

My Google-fu is failing me at the moment, but I’m fairly certain one of the sheets includes Gabreski’s mount.

I used the markings for Col. Schilling’s “Hairless Joe” and was entirely satisfied…

Also, if you haven’t built one yet, that Tamiya Jug is an absolute honey of a kit. Absolutely loved it, and I’ve got three more in the stash (two Razors and a -M).

Techmod have decals for two of his P47s.
