CO2 Tank Help

Not sure what’s happening but I just got my CO2 tank refilled and it was water tested and passed. The first time I used it again, the pressure gauge on the regulator that indicates the supply stays put when I open it but the gauge that measures the pressure into the airbrush is “fluttering” when I use the brush. It starts out at what I set it at and there’s no leaking. Once I start to paint, the gauge jiggles so much that I hear the needle boucing up and down. I’ve used this setup and brush for years and it never did that before and it’s definitely not normal. I didn’t take the regulator to the supplier when I had the tank refilled so I know it’s not damaged. Any hints? The hoses are OK and I don’t feel any leaks. Could it be that they filled it with a different gas?

Forgot to add that I have the same problem with both my Iwata and Paasche VL brushes so it’s not the brush.

This is just a wild guess because I couldn’t think of anything else, but is it possible that they got some moisture or some oil in the tank that could be causing the needle to stick? Try spraying just CO2 (no paint) at a piece of white paper and see if anything is coming out.

Another thought is that perhaps they overpressurized the tank. Is the supply pressure gauge reading about what it should for a full tank?

Just guesses. Sorry I don’t have any real advice.

Thanks MC. I think I corrected the problem when I retightened the regulator to the tank. It wasn’t tightened securely.

watch for the regulator freezing… that might be it too.

That would do it to [:p]

yep!!! that would
