Hi guys

Im close to finnishing this now…some Afgans shooting down and some finnishing to the edges of the water…but near !!

The basic technique is as the early Panther Splash Dio I did a month or two ago

…I used the the acetate ‘SPLASH BODIES’ technique again around the BMP and the Russian gent falling backwards…this is sealed with Ice-Coat to form a dam that prevents the resin getting in thus allowing a hollow to put the figure in later…I also seal around the wheels etc which helps to save resin as it does not get under the model…this also helps the cooling of the plastic and has (it seems) stopped it melting !!. At this stage Ice-Coat and Snow-Coat is mixed together and used to build up on these ‘SPLASH BODIES’ the rough bubbling water around the BMP and the falling figure.

The resin I have used here is GLOREX…a Swiss product, it is a 2-5% resin that gets VERY hot…to assist in protecting the plastic from the heat I pour it in thin layers…about 5 in this Dio…I would like to of used Scenic Water but the cost for so much would break the bank !!..so time was put aside and I just poured away over a few days…boring!! a bit like watching resin dry

To stop the spillage and to have an 'open fr’nt wall ’ to the water I constructed a dam around the dio…I used Kebab sticks and built up a frame…this I covered in baking foil that is then coated with household silicon sealer and spread thin with a knife…silicon will not stick to the resin and dries smooth. I stuck it to the base with a thin strip of more silicon.

I used plasticine on the Panther Splash Dio…never again…not only does it stick to the resin and is dame near impossible to remove but most importantly with this type of resin it melts !!! and allows the resin to leak…DO NOT get it on your legs as I did…unless like me you wish to have very girl like smooth legs [:D] as I now have [:X] .

To totally seal the area around the edges I used Ice-Coat and then some clear thin Polymer Medium…this was pored in and used to check for leaks…any leaks were ‘plugged’ with more Ice-Coat…the excess Medium was then poured off. This has the advantage of drying glass clear as well as sealing the edges and surface completely and thus prevents any moisture getting into the resin.

I then poured the resin, further work with the Ice-Coat/Snow -Coat mix for more foam and just built it up over a few days…

Hi Guys…I have put the high gloss surface on the forward wall of the water…

Then I had this thought…err …smile [:D] or [V] growl…your choice

The bullet track is in line with the angle of one of the roadside figure due to be added next…the bullet itself is brass wire and it water spout is acatate sheet heat streched and fixed with Ice-Coat into a drilled hole from above to show the track thru the water
