OK, other then sending international it basically impossible to get Future down here (in kangarooland). There are a few subsitutes but none are quite the same, so would clear gloss laquer do the same? ie a protective shiny coat that makes viewing easier and stops glue fume problems.

I would be very hesitant about using a lacquer on a clear part. I have a feeling that a lacquer may cloud a clear part due to the nasty solvents involved.
The Pledge One Go we get here isn’t great as a clear coat, but it is great for dipping clear parts.
If necessary, I’d dip clear parts in thinned Tamiya X-22 clear before I’d even consider clear lacquer.
Do not use any type of solvent on clear styrene. It will cloud and melt it. If you want to try anything on clear styrene plastic test it by using the part of the clear sprue.
Any lacquer or enamel will fog the clear styrene. Definitely a no-no on clear parts.

I have found Testors Glosscoat does work on canopies. Yeah, it seems to be a lacquer, but still seems to work with no clouding. Maybe try it on a piece of sprue first, but I have never had a problem with it.
I use it if I have to paint frame after clearcoating, as I use enamels most of the time, and one can use enamels over lacquer but not over acrylics/future. If it is a gloss finished aircraft, then I can do all the painting and then dip in future.
I find, just like future, that it does cover/smooth fine sanding/buffing marks, so I need to do one or other if I have to do any work on canopy or windshield.
