Probably something I can find by experimentation, but just in case someone else has already done this…
Building a couple of jetliners, there is a ‘metal frame’ decal for the cockpit windows. I have a couple of options here.
One is that I can cut out the clear film inside the silver parts, so the ‘glass’ doesn’t have anything over it.
Another is I do the same, but spray a gloss finishing coat over the lot to protect the decals. Hence the clear plastic will have a gloss coat over it.
The third is to leave all three layers on, the plastic, the decal film, and the gloss coat. I don’t know why, but I’ve always been adverse to spraying even clear coatings onto ‘glass’
I would coat the clear parts that are to remain clear with Future before you do anything else - at least that way, there is a layer of protection over the plastic in case of a screw up. That has saved me a couple of times already on my current build, a 1/72 B-25.
And correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t spraying clearcoat enamel paint over clear plastic fog the plastic? I KNOW that superglue will. [:D]
