Would you use a gloss clear coat on natrual meal[?] I know you wouldn’t use flat, but I have never heard of a clear coat on a natural metal model.
Never tried it myself, but have read in the forums here that people get positive results clear coating both metalizer paints and bare metal foil.
I heard one member had a problem with masking tape pulling off future from a metalized finish. Tiny metal flakes in the paint make it hard for other stuff to stick to it. If you do clear coat it, keep the masking to a minimum.

I do and I use future, but if you chose not to over coat, I would not touch the finished model with my bare hands. I once use Model masters buffable paints and was so happy with the final model I decided against a clear coat. In a years time grayish finger prints started to show on it. It’s in camo now.
I used Future on Metalizer, and looked great – it had the right sheen and everything and then I sprayed more Future and ruined it. Well, now I know when to stop.
It is true that Metalizer paints are a pain to work with if you have to mask them. No matter how low tack tape I use I get some peeling off.
One approach is to prime the model and then buff the primed surface-- it seems that the paint adheres better, although it is not a hundred percent. The other approach was mentioned in the Forum (I haven’t had a chance to try it yet) is to use wet newspaper for masking the different panels. Maybe the second technique will solve the problem but next time I make a bare metal finish I will use priming and wet newspaper.

The wet newspaper works, but I use 3M Post it notes. I have never pulled up metalizer using these very low tack Post Its as a masking media. Of course your metalizer has to be sprayed on a properly prepped model, free of oils(Like mold release agents and skin oil). They also come in many sizes and they can be secured on curves by using masking tape that only touches the Post It.[;)]
I like SNJ aluminum and buffing it with the metal powder really makes it shine, so has anybody sprayed future over snj + powder??? How’s that work??
If your going to clear coat any of the metalizers or especially metallic paints like sliver then by all means use Future!!! There is a warning on the can of testors gloss coat not to spray on high luster metallic finishes. I had an old P-38 that I used to practice painting on and if you spray the gloss over the metallic paint it will form these dark spots leaving a mottled finish.
With future there is absolutely no problem at all!! I still have to figure out how to apply it with an airbrush so Ill receive a complete glossy coat that isnt runny.
I have used Future over SNJ on an 86 Dog. No problem; however, if you mask over the future, it will pull off and dull the buffed SNJ.
