Clear Coat for Metallic color paints.

Can I use the standard clear coats ( Future, Vallejo, etc.) over metalic paints? Like Extreme Metal. Or are there special clear coats to use?

In my experience clearing over Moltow chrome I have found Liquatex high gloss varnish has the least dulling of the shine and I have tired many clears.

Suggest you do a test piece first, then clear coat it with the SAME brand clear, or whatever the mfr recommends.

Hey Jon: I like like the modeling pictures. I do a lot of modeling myself. 1/35 Armor and 1/48 aircraft. I would send you some pictures but I don’t know how to post pictures

Anybody used this stuff: Intermediate Gauzy Agent Shine Enhancer? It is supposed to be the clear coat of choice for the AK Xtreme Metal paint line. If you have, what do you use to clean it out of your airbrush? I haven’t been able to find that info anywhere I’ve searched on the 'net. Thanks for any tips!

This Gauzy product claims it will not affect the metal shine as other clear coats will so I will get a bottle to try it out. Even though I haven’t used this Gauzy products I do believe Lacquer thinner will clean the ab after using it. I use LT to clean everything I spray in my ab, lacquers, enamels and acrylic with no problems.

I got my bottle in. Have not airbrushed it yet, but on a test piece it went down very well with a brush. Self leveled, dried well. Windex removed it, just as with future. I did not try anything else since the windex worked.
