OK, the Tamiya CLK-GTR Original-Tiele kit is in the home stretch. Decaling is almost complete (gosh I love the way these nestle down with a little Micro-Sol). Everything is looking good. However, I have fingerprints and other crud on the windows. No, it’s not superglue that I mistakenly thought was Micro-Sol, just bio-degradeable crap. A simple water clean leaves streaks. I’m not ready to try a “Windex” clean, won’t the ammonia discolor/distort the plastic ? Help. Normally I’d Future the glass, but this is a Tamiya and the glass is crystalline from the box.
the windex should be fine, just dilute it a little.
However, if all you have is streaks, wash it then dry it with a qtip.
Then take a fresh qtip and buff it to make sure there’s no streaks left.
Novus #2 polish is also a great way to clean and descratch model"glass". Hope this helps.
As mentioned Novus #2, also Novus #1 is less streaky.
Bare metal plastic polish. (by the company that makes the foil is the best plastic polish I have found.)
I use 3M Professional Formula Plastic Polish Part Number 051131. An 8 ounce bottle will cost around 8 - 10 bucks, and will last forever if all you use it for is plastic models. You should be able to get it in an auito parts store which supplies material for auto body shops and detailers.
I, too, built the CLK-GTR. Stunning model. I think it took me a month of evenings to get the decals on.
Take a Q tip and use a little dish washing detergent. First wet the Q tip with water. Clean the windshield and then go over it with another Q tip and clean water. Repeat with more clean water and then dry with a clean Q tip. That is how I clean the canopy and windshields on my aircraft models and it should work with car windows.

Try armorall. Apply with a Q-tip, then buff dry with a clean soft cloth, such as a washcloth or newer t-shirt. (or even a dry q-tip on small spots or in corners). It clears things up nicely.
Try some Tamiya polishing compound on a Q-tip. Just rub it on enough to move the marks, then let it dry. Once dry, buff it off with a clean Q-tip (eg. the other end of it).
