Chuck Yeager "Glamorous Glennis" P-51D

Sunday night I watched “The Right Stuff” for the umpteen zillionth time and got inspired to build Yeager’s P-51 in 1/48 scale. I know that Hasegawa issued such a kit, 09288 or JT188, but cannot locate.

I am really only interested in the decals. Does anyone happen to have the old kit laying around with the decals. If so, I would be interested in buying the decals.

I would almost buy the entire kit just for the decals - depends on how much. I really want the decals for the 1/48 Tamiya kit.

Had to make mine on my printer…

Aeromaster 48-478 has these markings.

Superscale 48-5058 also has these markings I think.

I know I bid on a sheet on Ebay a while back, but didn’t win.

Chuck yeager said the “the right stuff” was terrible, the only thing they got right was he broke the sound barrier in the Bell X-1 and his name.

But anyway. That whole FG has decals for them. Have a look on hannants.

Yeager also said he topped a tree for a neighbor with a P-39…

Wuddent take what he sed too seriously either. I built that in 1:24 for a guy and the decals were not hard to find.

He also sed he resupplied the father of a G-friend with 30.06 from the air… Now this is no shit.

Believe these old farts, go to hell. The one I know wants me to drive him to Reno this year because he’s an incontinent old bag of farts. Then he tells his friends that “the kid wants to go off and shy away the wimmen”. Go figure…

Yeah, he hated it so much he was a tech advisor, and hes actually in the movie (look carefully in the bar). I’m not saying it was perfect.
