chrome plating

HEY,
Is there a company that does chrome plating for you or is there a way to do it yourself? The paint looks different and it ruins the model if the parts are next to each other and one is painted and one is plated. Thanks for any help.

Hey dubix,
I cant remember what FSM issue it was in but there was a company that did rechroming.
The only thing that you had to do was take off the chrome before you sent it out.

I think the name of the company is Chrometech USA?? Never used them, but I heard they’re the best.

With foil and alclad II around, I don’t foresee sending too much their way though.

HEY,
I am talking about engine parts that arent chrome and they are oddly shaped so foil wouldnt work. What is alclad ll?

Randy

Alclad II is a ‘paint’ that is sprayed on to the piece. It has some important preparation steps, but the final result is quite amazing. It might take a bit of practice, but once you get it right you will be stunned how awesome it looks. It doesn’t look like silver paint, it looks like chrome. You need an airbrush to apply it though, but I have heard that some people are successfully applying it to tiny parts just using a brush.

Try some of these threads which might give you a better idea about it.
