Here is the latest on the Ohka. The dark paint around the Hinomarus is the right color, just still wet. I had to do some touchup. I still have to mask and paint the canopy.
And some touchup on the Ohka is still needed.
Many thanks to Swanny, Pixilater and Mel Sharkskin for their help and encouragement. Swanny had this build on his site, Pix found several pictures of the Ohka on the net and Mel gave a lot of advice and encouragement.
Thanks for looking. It is not the best, but I am getting better.
Thanks for sharing, Kurt.
Tiny little thing, isn’t it?
You’re right - every model you build will be better than your last one. Keep building and having fun.
Probably the most important skill in modelling is to learn patience. It took me nearly 20 years to get mine!
Swanny,
I tried on the other side and wasn’t happy with the results. I will take another picture of it. The hands and eyes aren’t what they used to be. Maybe I am ready to move from AOF to an official OF. Maybe Yardbird will give me an exemption.
Kurt,
For a certified SAC Trained Killer, exemption granted. Just don’t tell Gen LeMay I broke the rules. The little Okha looks good. I was visiting the Chino Planes of Fame museum a couple years ago and they have one there. The NASM Paul Garber facility has one too, but it is all disassembled.

Kurt:
I’ve been waiting to see this little fella’s first baby pictures for some time now. It was well worth the wait. It’s beeyooteeful. You have nothing to apologize for there. For a Steely-Eyed Missile Man, you’ve turned out to be a helluva modeler too.
TOM
Nice job, Kurt !
Glad you found the pics to be of use. These aircraft were built pretty crudely, as they were expected to last only one mission.
Post more pics when the canopy is painted.
Yardbird - LeMay won’t find out from me. Thanks. lol
Razor - What made it worse was that it was a one way ticket. AND a terrible landing.
Thad - It is the Italeri kit with a V-1 also. Kit number 812. I think it is a reboxed Testors kit.
Lucien - I don’t think they even provided parachutes. And when it was pointed at the target, the pilot couldn’t move the control surfaces and change his mind. I guess the airflow over the surfaces jammed them.
ModelGrandpa - This kit cries out for a lot of interior work. The pit area is very sparse.
Tom - Thanks, bud. Now your turn. lol
Pix - The pictures were a real help. There were 2 different Ohkas and the pictures showed both very well. I just have to get better at scratch building.
Swanny - The new picture shows my attempt at adding detail to the sides. I just got a little frustrated working with the styrene that did NOT want to cooperate. The next build will be better.
I was just at the USAF Museum in Dayton Ohio and they have one there on display. Wouldn’t let me get close enough to photograph the interior though (I asked) - bummer. Yours is looking nice.
