Well, what do you know…I must have been looking at the 4oz. can of it. How long will the 30mL last? Enough for a few 1:48 scale airplanes, hopefully?
It’s very very thin, so it goes fast… 2 at the most I’d say if you scrimp and save…not last lasting stuff, but nothing beats it’s durable finish.
i like snj or whatever that stuff is called. it’s like $6 canadian here for a bottle the same size as alclad
Squadron sells it for $6.95/ bottle. It is enough to paint a 1/48 WW II bomber (B-17, B-24, etc.). If you use just one shade overall, you may be able to paint 2-3 1/48 fighters, such as a P-51.
The unmanned aircraft in my Mistel signature pic was painted with three shades of Alcad.

Hm, multiple “shades”? Do you mean that you painted two or three coats of AlClad, or something else? I’m confused.[%-)]
With four coats of Krylon gloss black primer, plus two or three coats of AlClad, I sure hope my panel lines aren’t lost!
Its easier to see the different shades in this larger pic. The lighter colors are Aluminum, the darker ones are Duraluminum, and the darkest is Dark Aluminum. You can also mix the shades to get even more variety in the panels. You also don’t need to seal Alcad. I sprayed a few panels with Dullcoat for more variety.
I don’t know how thick Krylon is (I use Alcad’s primers-both gray & black), but Alcad is very finely pigmented. Surface detail is not lost with Alcad.

At good ol wally world, duplicolor has a chrome paint, 11oz $3.97. I have some and have heard that it’s as good as alclad and applies the same way, however, I haven’t gotten around to using it yet, so I don’t have first hand experience. Hope this helps.
OK, the duplicolor is good, but not exactly the same as alclad. It doesn’t quite have the mirror shine, instead it is more of a really shiny silver.
