Reading this made me also realize that one could have a bunch of different ordanace and be able to change it whenever you wanted to. Has anyone else by chance thought of this?
I learned that trick years ago. It takes time to drill each but in the long run it is worth it. It also looks better than having glue all over the bomb.
An excellent ideal! Of course we all ask ourselves, why didn’t we think of that? I will try this on my A-4C and E when it comes time to hang ordnance.
It is a great idea. My thinking in addition is to instead of glue them on, make the hole in the pylon slightly smaller than that of the wire. When you get tired of the loadout, you could just pull the old stuff off and “reload” your aircraft.

I actually made hooks for my 1/48 P-51 in the wing pylon and put small wire eyes on the bombs and “hung” them on my “shackles”. I replicated early “forked” type sway braces so I could just pitot them down for a little tension on the bomb. I was going to make drop tanks and never got around to it. I even made the rockets attach to the stubs like the real thing. They would pop off occassionaly so I just white glued them on.

I use a similar method when mounting resin figures to their display stands. i never thought about using it for ordnance. I’ll have to try it on the next plane I build.
