Challenger II info needed

Look at this pictures:

I need info about the pieces in the red circles, they come with the Tamiya kit, but I have the Trumpeter kit and they’re not provided with that kit, so I want to scratchbuild it, so I can start my Challenger II for a little contest, maybe closer pics from the pieces or actual pictures will be really appreciated. thanks a lot in advance. best regards.

José.

Greetings José

Those brackets, I believe, are to support armored skirts that protect the lower hull and suspension. If you have the same Trumpeter kit that I have (actually, mine is a Hobbycraft #6003, which is the Trumpeter kit under a different name), it doesnt have any skirts (unless you want to use their crappy instructions on how to scratchbuild them.)

I don’t enter contests, so I dont know…do the judges look for the brackets if the skirts are installed, and if they do, how can they see them?

Joe

Well, I know that the brackets can’t be seen when the tank is finished, but if I don’t put them, I’ll feel like “something is missing”. BTW, the kit I have is the Trumpeter kit 00323 Challenger 2 Op. Telic, that version does have side skirts:

Still waiting for some useful info. Best regards.

José

Hi, the ‘bars’ in your first pic are for fixing the side curtains; can hardly be seen when built-up.

The second pic is as shown and can be seen when built.

Not sure I can give any dimensions, but if you are really stuck I will try!.

The parts in the first pic are support arms for the side plates. They don’t hold the plates on just keep them away from the track. No idea about the second pic, sorry.

In General, Judges do not pick up the model and check for those brackets. There are modelers that entered models where the upper run of the link and length tracks was not installed and judges did not notice due to the side skirts.

Hope these help.
