I did a really stupid thing to my Italeri 1/72 CH-53E. Most Modern Marine Corps choppers have a two tone camo scheme. Light gray on the bottom an verticle surfaces, with a slightly darker grey on top (almost blue). I use Tamiya Medium Grey for the verticle surfaces and light see grey on top. While painting the upper surfaces on the tail, I accidentally used Dark sea grey instead of Light sea grey. I didn’t notice it until I was done. Now I have a 3 tone camo scheme which really looks stupid. Here’s to repainting tomorrow.
Just consider it a primer coat and have fun! I just went through the same process last night trying to paint a coulpe figures to use in a Bradley.
Sorry to hear about that! [:(] Hope it all works out alot better the next time!
and post some pics!
Good luck! [:D]
Stuff happens. You can go for the weathered look; just paint the whole thing Light Ghost Gray with tail rotor and main rotor heads and blades being black. Throw in some gray patches here and there, some hydraulic leaks on the sides of the engine nacelles and viola!..one used CH-53E…
The -E’s that I was riding around on back in '86 @ MCAS Futemna weren’t exactly new. LOL - Calvin
The Echos always look dirty, even after they fly back from SIDLUM (rebuild). I corrected the problem now. I’m applying non-skid surfacing thanks to Black Paint mixed with baking soda. It looks good. I wish I could post some pics, but I don’t have a working camera.
