CH-53 Windows in Vietnam era

Hi gang.

I’m building the Revell CH-53 1/48 kit to Vietnam (SAR) config. and wondering about the windows on the sides of the fuselage (4). I awready installed the windows, but I’m wondering if they were just darkened or taken out completely, except for the one on the right side door and maybe one more? Anyone know where to find good research pics?

Thanks

You might check out Squadron’s in action book on the CH-53. Don’t believe they where darkened, some where taken out. Maybe others with backgrounds on the 53 can be more help

The “rescue” hatch which includes the left forward window was removed and mini-gun intalled in that position. I haven’t found a good shot of it but some appear to have had that area enlarged to have a better field of fire. I don’t have the Squadron CH-53 book yet.
