I’m planning out my build of a 1:72 CF-18A Hornet - utilizing a base of Revell-Germany’s F/A-18C (CF-18A) and Academy’s F/A-18C for needed detail. One particular detail I want to add - and one that is missing from the Revell kit - is the Canadian-specified ID Light that is installed on the portside gun loader access door, just forward of the LEX. Revell actually includes what appears to be the lens for the simulated light - but there’s no hole molded into the forward fuselage and the instructions indicate the clear part is not used.
Anyway, I thought I would add a working light - a clear/white LED - and I thought I’d check if anyone else has ever tried this on their CF-18A build - and if so, any tricks, suggestions, or lessons learned to pass along.
