right iv started the 1/48 pheonix armed interceptor variant of the tsr 2.
the pheonix arnt the most silly part of the build that honour resides in the bomb bay (it just happens to fit like a glove too)
can you tell what it is yet? ![]()

A Mach 2 Tankbuster? A bit like the F-111 with a Vulcan in the bay - only with even less chance of a hit!
nearly right it is indeed a gau-8 but the cf109 wouldve been an interceptor to keep the bears away. if i were a bomber crew and saw that thing pointing at me itd put the fear of god into me
That makes more sense. Iām sure the Avenger could clip a few wings - if not saw them of, enter the āJet Loggersā.
itd saw the fuselage in 2 never mind the wings lol
made some progress the barrel and the ammo drum were used and the pod was made using a drop tank which happens to be exactly the same diameter as the drum. the whole assembly also happens to be exactly the same length i havnt had to shorten it at all its an absolutely perfect fit purely by coincidence!
i made a mistake when i cut the fuel tank i used a hacksaw which has left a flat ridge from head on if i had drilled it out that wouldnt happen doh too late now

Have you made an airfix TSR.2 before?
this will be my 3rd ever completed airplane the 1 st (about a month ago) was the same kit done as a jap recon plane

why do you ask?
I was just going to give you a heads up about a couple of problem areas that might cause a headache if not dealt with before construction, like the wing assembly not sitting down properly in the fuse or the āangle of the dangleā of the main gear. However it would look like you know your way around this kit now! I finished a 1/48 in standard garb a few months ago - I should really get some pics of it.
ah right the wing fit really well on the other model it was a little fiddly at the rear but it was really nice apart from that. the main gear isnt supported well im gonna modify this 1 by drilling it out and fitting a piece of metal tube il redo the other 1 at some point
more progress pics im actually really happy with a couple of things iv done so far on this.
iv made/bodged a full gau-8 gun/cannon/bloody great buzzsaw together which fits absolutely perfectly in the bay (wouldve been fantastic for scareing the bears away)
iv also modified the pilots instrument panel and cover as it was the kit 1 looks waaaaay to high by my reckoning the pilot woould have zero forward visibility iv lowered it quite a bit and im much happier about it i may even do the same on the original tsr i did.

the nose was a 32 scale 2200 gal fuel tank i chopped up the reason being i doubt very much the awg-9 (necessary) wouldve fitted in the rather slim nose of the tsr2

i reckon the sight of that would seriously ruin a bomber crews day

you can see where i flattened the nose off by the canopy there

the nose reminds me a little of a phantom/tornado
