I have my 1st aftermarket zimmerit and I have basic question (King Tiger Porsche Zimm). I see they simulate damage to the zimmerit, but I also see areas that look worn…I can’t tell if it’s on purpose or if the resin zimmerit didn’t form correctly. Any ideas?
My guess is that it’s deliberate. I have several Cav zims and they are an excellent product for those people that just don’t want to do it yourself. The thing about zim is that it wasn’t a perfect application even out of the factory. Many modelers want to do a damaged zim. Maybe there are two different (one damaged, one not).
I think it is probably deliberate, I have used it on several kits. All of them have that rough non perfect texture.Great stuff though, using some on my Porsche King Tiger right now![:)]
I used Cavalier zim on a Tiger 1, and yes it had simulated damage. i suppose you can take some squadron putty and “customize” the zim a bit yourself.
I haven’t tried doing the DIY zim, but Cavalier works great.
