card models

I was curious about this kind of construction. Is it difficult to build this way? Where does one get the paper/card kits? I’ve never seen one in a hobby shop. I was just wondering if someone can comment on this method and/or provide a web address? I don’t anything about it and was just looking for a little info about building a modern warship, or using card stock in combination with other media when scratchbuilding.

I’ve never built a card model before, but here’s some links:

I’ve built a couple of them - though not recently. Some of those things are really amazing. The warship and aircraft kits made by Wilhelmshaven, of Germany, frequently have parts counts that number well up in the hundreds. And their ships are notoriously accurate.

Like any other segment of the model industry, the paper model lines vary quite a bit. I’ve seen some that are pretty awful. But others are astonishingly sophisticated. They definitely are worth the serious modeler’s attention.
