Car Modeler needs help in positively identifying a Sherman Tank!

im sure he knows about all the Shermans in the world let alone Canada [:D]
how do you think he got his name[:o)]

The Sherman above isn’t a Firefly John, it’s probably from the Korean War where the Canadians swapped there M10 Achilles for the M4A? E8s for more HE ammo

John - the one that you show never got into a fight … it’s an M4A2 76 (W) HVSS (aka Easy 8). The Canadian Army used them for many years but only in a reserve role. During Korea we used U.S. supplied M4A3s which look very close to the M4A2.

The tracks are not referred to as Canadian Military Pattern though, they are just one of the three common HVSS tracks.
C.M.P. describes a series of trucks used during W.W.II.
C.D.P (Canadian Dry Pin) describes a set of tracks used on Sextons, Rams, and Grizzleys.

Why do I feel like a kindergardener sitting in on a calculus class??? Duhhhhh!

When you match wits with THE master, you have to expect to learn something.

Thanks all!

I knew there was something wrong with using C.M.P. before I was completely awake.

This is a CMP truck that I found locally a couple of years back.

Especially in Dr. Robert’s class!!

Hadn’t planned on it but I dropped by my not so local hobby shop and the owner was happy to order the required kit for me. He’s supposed to have it within a week so I’ll wait until I get my hot little hands on it before I order the required resin.

I’ve got to take the time to Thank You all again and Thanks for making me feel like I belong here even though I admitted that I’m more of a car guy.

Thanks guys!

John

Most welcome John … and I’m still checking for the other little bits you’ll need to wrap this one up.

If you fire an e-mail my way, I have some pics that may help you with your build.

A little update. I’m still waiting on the arrival of my Sherman at my LHS.

In the meantime, I went to visit the 1:1 Bomb.

There’s another 46 pics at the link.

Enjoy!

And great pics they are John … thanks for sharing with us.

Sorry for the delay but I’ve been waiting until I got my hands on my Tamiya Sherman which took longer than expected due to the fact that Borgfeldt didn’t have any in Canada when I ordered one at my LHS.

Anyway, it’s here. Finally.

I noticed that between now and when I embarked upon Project Da Bomb that Verlinden has released a couple of Sherman conversion kits. Are they something I could use in my project? I ask as my LHS has recently added Verlinden to their suppliers list and the owner told me this morning that he would be more than happy to order me anything I want/need for this project.

No news pics. of The Bomb but I will be stopping at the other Sherman (The one with the “Easy 8” suspension) by the end of the week for a photo session without snow.
