canopy tint with tamiya rattlecan?

I need to gold tint a F-22 and EA6 canpoy.

Has anyone used tamiya clear orange in the rattle can to do this?

I am concerned tha if I colour future and dip it, there might be some pooling in corners even with it being wicked off.

Is the stuff in the rattle cans the same as the normal tamiya clear enamels?

You can get away with it but go lightly, very lightly.

I use gold or copper alclad in light mists to tint canopies. The key is to apply it on the inside of the canopy. The natuaral gloss of the exterior of the plastic is the key to pulling off the effect.

Does the alclad leave a relatively smooth finish? I intend to leave the canopies open, Will dipping in future bring back the nice smooth look after gold or even tamiya orange is applied?

Yes the alclad does leave a smooth finish due to the fine pigments, Dipping will help though.

Whoa! Same trick I use with tamiya Smoke. I didn’t think of using metallics! Thanks for that idea!!!

Great, wiull give it a go thanx.

no problem, I hope it works out for you.
