I am doing Zvezda’s 1/72 MiL-24 and want to put a tarp over the canopy. What is the best material to use to make one?

I’d be tempted to try Milliput but getting in thin enough could be difficult at 1/72, how about tinfoil but then painting that could be difficult too!

Tradition says, paper facial tissue, i.e. Kleenex dipped in to a thinned solution of white glue and water draped over your object and left to dry NOTE : cover your object with clear food plastic wrap, i.e. Saran Wrap, to protect your work. Then when dry, remove the tarp and plastic wrap. Paint the tarp and replace on your model.
I prefer to use tissue paper like you use to wrap a shirt in a gift box. It is stronger and will hold its shape better. The facial tissue tends to fall apart and turn into a goey mess if it gets too wet or you try to manipulate it too much when wet.
An alternative to milliput (a better one) is kneadatite, also known as green stuff.
Table top wargamers use it to make cloaks, banners, and other similar items, even whole models. The more traditional side of modelling, i.e. what we discuss here, seems to be rather behind in this way.
It can be rolled/pressed very thin so you could make use it to make a 1/72 scale tarp.
