Canopy Probem - Please Help

I was recently building a model Jaguar T.2 and accidentally dropped a big dollop of clear, revell glue on it.

Does anyone know a safe way of removing this?!

You’ll have to sand and polish it away, then dip in Future to restore the clear unscratched appearance of new glass.

Hi Alex,

I think the only real way of fixing this is to gently sand it out and then finish with a suitable polish.

Start with about an 800 grit wet and dry (used wet), sand in a circular pattern and progressively use finer grits (eg. 1200 and 2000) and finish wiht a polish. (Tamiya and Gunze make “hobby” polishes, but you could use a non-hobby product like Novus plastic polish).

If you do atempt this, do not use undue pressure as it may cause stress cracks in the canopy which will not be repairable.

Another possible option would be to find some clear plastic stock, thinner than the actual part, cut and glue into the opening. I have used the clear plastic packaging found on many consumer products in the past. A local hobby shop that sell R/C cars might be a good place to find materials.
