Canopy Details

I just finished reading the article on Darren robert’s absolutely stunning EA-6B and the picture on the cover got me thinking. Why is it that no one makes any kind of a resin piece for the inside of a canopy? We can buy pretty much any variation of seats, interiors and wheel well sets, but we are still stuck with smooth, shiny insides of canopies. If you take a look at the cover of the issue, you’ll see what I mean.

And please don’t take this as any kind of bashing of Darren’s model, It’s gorgeous !!

Some of the resin and PE sets do come with attachments for the canopy. The Cutting Edge 1/32 A-10 resin set has a lot of canopy attachments, and the Eduard 1/48 F-86 set does as well. Guess it just depends on the kit and the aftermarket supplier’s ideas of what needs to be added.

The EA-6B is a pretty old kit that has been in & out of production many times. In it’s heyday, the AM market was very limited, so not a lot was available for it then. It’s kind of surprizing that so much AM is now available for it.
