canberra

[?] Are any of the big companies bringing out a canberra kit in 72nd scale in 2006 .

Craig I don’t know about 1/72 scale but I remember reading somewhere Airfix and Classics Airframe’s are coming out with 1/48 scale ’s sometime in 2006.[:D]

I can’t imagine a new tooled Canberra in 1/72 considering the 1/48 kits being new. However, keep your eye on Revell Germany, perhaps the new 1/48 Canberras will be the catalyst they need to dust off the mould to the old 1/72 Matchbox Canberra PR.9.

Dunno about 1/72nd or 1/48th… this morning I was sat at the roadside eating a nice freshly-cooked bacon-and-egg roll near Huntingdon (England) and there came this strangely familiar noise overhead…

A 1/1 scale Canbanger PR9 was doing some tight turns overhead and then headed towards RAF Wyton in a slightly downward direction (looked from where I was like landing approach). Great to see one still active - a design as old as I am!

Wyton was for many years the base for most of the RAF’s Canberras. Now all they have are some wrecks on the old fire-dump. And a PR9 on the gate.

Who said nostalgia is not what it was…

There are some injection molded kits that recently came out in 72nd but they are a little steep, and limited run.

Airfix is releasing 3 Canberra’s and 1 B-57 in 48th scale probably towards the end of 2006, early 2007. Rumor mill is that they will follow this up with 72nd scale versions done from the new molds. But won’t be for a while.
