Anyone know who makes a 1/48 RB-57B Canberra? Superscale just came out with decals for the Arkansas Air National Guard, and, I’d like to get a few to model this aircraft. Thanks!
The RB-57B was not terribly different than a standard Martin built B-57. The Classic Airframes kits should be a good place to start. This would be a pretty easy conversion. They’re heavy; I highly recommend the metal landing gear strut replacements available from squadron.com
How about the Airfix Canberra kits? They would fit my budget more easily.
The 1/48 Airfix RB-57’s were on sale in the Squadron Feb. Sale Flyer. I think they will still let you order them if they are in stock at the Feb. sale price.
I haven’t built the Airfix Canberra, but I’ve heard good things about it. Looks like the Airfix kit is going for $46.00 at Squadron.com. There are several good 1/48 B-57 decal sheets out there now. I want to do a natural metal air guard bird.
I have built both the Classic Airframes and Airfix kits. The Airfix kit was much easier to build. It gives you the option of having the bomb bay area open or closed. The Classic Airframes kit doesn’t offer this option . The Airfix kit includes decals and parts for the B-57B, RB-57E and B-57G while the other kit makes just one version. I believe Classic Airframes is now out of business. Locating one of these kits could be a problem. Decals with the Classic Airframes kit are for the night (gloss black) version.
