Canadian Leopard C2 finished pics!!!

Well here’s something a little different from my IDF Merks… I decided to finish my Canadian Leo C2 so I can make more room in my closet for more kits! The kit is Revell’s Leopard 1A5 with Maple Leaf Models/Track Jam’s Canadian Leopard C2 conversion set. It was pretty straight forward for the conversion, the main part being the turret bustle! I still have to trim down the cammo netting of it’s frays and add some foliage to it, but other than that I think it’s done! Hope you like it!

I don’t understand why I post a pic one way and it works, and when I do it the same way with something else, it doesn’t work… help!!!

You’re links are incomplete, it must ends with “img”.

they do when I am in edit mode to try to fix it… the links work on every other forum I go to!

there we go, now they’re fixed… stupid IE explorer!

That is so cool James! I love it. Make me want to build modern armor.

The weathering is superb and I love the net. Is it cheesclothe?

There is a lot of details on that beast. Really well done![tup]

BTW, I thought of buying the Merkava II from Academy. Is it a good choice?

Edited: I’dd really like to have that one in my collection someday, since I’m Canadian. Is the conversion kit expensive?

The kit was great, and at 30 bucks who could complain! So many parts it was like putting together a new Dragon kit… the conversion set was about 50 bucks if I remember. The guy however is on sabbaticle so I don’t know how you can get the conversion anytime soon. I do know he is supposed to go back to the business with some new conversions and stuff sometime this fall, so I hope soon! The resin was awesome and well done with little flash and no mold nubs as I call them. I would recommend it! The cammo netting is just surgical guaze my wife got me from work dipped into thinned down paint. It will calm down a bit once I get the foliage onto it… As for the Merk II, Academy is the only company that makes the lines of Merkavas. Get it if you’re interested, it’s not a horrible kit and with some additional resin will be beautiful, but can be built OOB with no major flaws other than the suspension which is hidden by the side skirts anyway! good luck!

Wow, great job! Now that summer is pretty much over I’m going to have to get back into models.

Another great one James!

pack her up and send her to panjwaii, good job!

thanks everyone for the comments! funny to see just a contingent of Canadians commenting on this one LOL… It was a great build for me, and every time I look at it I’ll think of home!

Very nice James. I like the weathering. Nice to take a break from the Merks-eh?

haha aint that the truth! I still have four of them waiting in the wings! one just waitng ball and chains… thanks for the comment Eric!

lovely looking job james those nets really look the part what exactly did you use for this, weathering looks spot on also, all round nice work.

my wife got me surgical gauze, a bunch of it, from work! I couldn’t justify spending 10 bucks for Verlindens stuff when I could make my own. I then dipped it into a mixture of Raw umber and probaby some green drab from my last project. Ring it out, and place it while it’s still wet to shape it! I just added the foliage last night so I’m going to hit that with a drybrush of some browns and reds to get it to look like autumn. that’s it… surgical gauze… but the smallest one you can get…

thats about the best scale looking netting i have seen, i have seen surgical gauze before but not that small gauge, my wife is a nurse so she should be able to get me some heh another shopping list for her to take to work.

hahahah yep! Forcepts, gauze, a mask. LOL she gets it all for me!

Go Canada!! She looks right nice there, CDNTanker!! Good work!
