Canadair Sabre MK 6

I got lucky and got an old Esci Canadair Sabre from the “evil auction site”. The decals are still good. I put the Luftwaffe decals on an old Monogram F-86 & they worked excellent. Learn to love decal setting solution.

Now, I want to build the kit. However, I can’t quite figure out the Grey. Instead of the Grey being “Luftwaffe” (near Panzer grey) or “Gunship Grey” the grey seems to resembel a lighter blueish grey.

I use only Tamiya spray paints. So, the green is a leaf green on the Canadair Sabre (TM 86514). However, what is the color of the top grey on the Canadair Sabres in the 1950s period?

Thanks.

I’m pretty sure that they used the same colours as teh RAF; Dark Sea Gray.

I don’t have my references with me, but I do seem to recall that the RCAF and RAF machines carried the same colours - the camouflaged versions were deployed to West Germany for the most part.

basic camo is dark sea gray and dark green. bottom side is pru blue.
